Suppose we took talent management seriously. What would organizations look like? In a word: different. In two words: very different. Starting at the top, boards would get much more information on their organization's human capital. The membership of the board would include people with HR expertise. Organizations would also have different reward systems, selection processes, and, perhaps most important of all, different approaches to leadership.
