In such sports as football, rugby, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey, when a player has the ball and is headed for the goal of the opposing team, the other team members' role is to assist that player. One key way to do this is to run ahead of the player and clear the path, keeping opponents out of the way. This is called "running interference" for the player with the ball. In a learning or training context, the training professional must run interference by dealing with all of the issues that help and hinder the transfer of learning. Drawing on five years of research with major multinationals on the factors affecting successful training transfer, the speakers have developed a hands-on checklist for helping you to clear the way and ensure that course participants score back on the job.
