The speakers will describe a recent initiative in which the goal was to design a measurable leadership development program for senior leaders, approximately half of whom were Baby Boomers and half of whom were Gen Xers, using instructional design approaches that helped each cohort learn and apply advanced leadership skills. There were generational learning gaps to overcome: The Baby Boomers wanted action learning and activity-based, targeted learning. The Gen Xers wanted resources on podcasts and didn't know why they had to attend leadership development. Time constraints necessitated "just in the nick of time" design and development, and senior stakeholders had their fingers in the pie as well. Meanwhile, the 360-degree assessments that were to guide participant development were postponed. Learn how the speakers succeeded in designing a leadership development project while overcoming these--and many other--significant challenges, and hear firsthand about the lessons learned.
