Session #: 339-SU207
Presenter(s): Spencer Kagan Session Length: 1 hr. 15 min. Event: 2009 ASTD International Conference & Expo Date: May 31-June 3, 2009
This experiential presentation models a range of brain-friendly presentation strategies for maximum engagement and retention. Participants experience and process simple, proven brain-friendly instructional strategies, creating adaptations for their own trainings. The strategies include Kinesthetic Symbols; Take Off, Touch Down; RallyRobin; Timed Pair Share, and Team Interview. The dyad and small group structured interaction strategies are the content of the presentation (participants learn to use these strategies in their own presentations) as well as a vehicle for processing. Participants experience the strategies and then view PowerPoint slides showing active brain images demonstrating the increased brain engagement produced by the strategies. Participants derive the rationale for using the strategies based on their own experience and view research results demonstrating the strategies produce increased engagement and retention.
