The session will use a variety of methods to promote learning. First, the participants will be encouraged to identify an HPI issue or project that they are working on or have recently completed. They will then be asked to identify problems they encountered in evaluating the HPI solution using traditional models such as Kirkpatrick. This information will be incorporated into a lecturette on the limitations of training evaluation models when applied to non-training HPI solutions. Next, participants will learn about a new HPI evaluation model based on the ASTD HPI model. To illustrate the use of the model, a case study will be presented that involved use of the evaluation model to evaluate the effectiveness of a performance management solution that included a new performance appraisal system, a new compensation system and management training on how to implement the new HR systems. Lastly, participants will be led through an individual action planning activity that encourages them to begin to plan to apply the HPI evaluation model when they get back to work. A Q & A session will conclude the presentation.
