Brinkerhoff will employ the same engaging and interactive techniques that have earned him top-ratings from previous ASTD ICE audiences. The session flow and activities are as follows (Note – all interactive engagements use handout worksheets): 1. Brief introduction and session overview; welcome overseas participants 2. Interactive exercise in which participants will work in pairs to solve a brief "riddle' that captures the essence of today's current business impact dilemma in the training profession. 3. Speaker's summary and reflection; posing the second riddle: Why doesn't training achieve 100% business impact right now? 4. Interactive exercise (working in pairs or threes), participants agree on their solution to the riddle 5. Speaker's summary and reflection 6. Presentation: The framework, methods and tools being used by the High Impact Learning (Advantage Way) User Group to dramatically increase ROI of training 7. Role Play: Engaging audience volunteers, the speaker will conduct the highly entertaining "Meet Three Trainees" role play in which participants discover the dramatic change that occurs in learners' focus and intentionality when their managers use a vital three-step process and tool to engage them before and after training. 8. Presentation: The Manager-Impact failure or success cycle, and how measurement can reverse the "impact death spiral". 9. Demonstration: Participants review, analyze and problem-solve referring to actual measurement data from 2-3 companies in the User Group that convincingly demonstrate the business impact achieved when the non-learning function partners in the impact process adhere to their accountabilities. 10. Take-home exercise: A self-assessment checklist for participants to critically assess their own organization's current capability to achieve similar results and discover remediation strategies 11.
