Session #: 339-M111
Presenter(s): Amy Glass Session Length: 1 hr. 15 min. Event: 2009 ASTD International Conference & Expo Date: May 31-June 3, 2009
In this session, you'll learn to maximize your ability to educate and persuade learners from every generation every time you step into the classroom. People from each generation (baby boomers, Generation X, and Millennials) come to training sessions with their own set of values, needs, attitudes, and communication styles. For those of you charged with facilitating sessions that include multigenerational participants, the success of the program (and the outcome) lies with your ability to connect with each audience member. You have the dual challenge of holding attention of your audiences--often for long periods--while achieving the learning objectives of the group. The key is to get each audience member to actively contribute to your training program or meeting. You'll learn to flex training delivery to appeal to generational expectations and grab attention, and incorporate different communication approaches to intensify audience-member involvement.
