Session #: 339-TU302
Presenter(s): Jim Smith, Jr. Session Length: 1 hr. 30 min. Event: 2009 ASTD International Conference & Expo Date: May 31-June 3, 2009
Management's attendance has stopped it. Fear has buried it. Corporate culture has numbed it. Tons of content delivered in a short period of time has also derailed it. What is "it?" Your personal pizzaz power! Many have let their pizzaz succumb to a number of seemingly self-imposed roadblocks...or have yet to tap into it. Well, it's time to take "it" off layaway or off the shelf--and one way to do that is to dance like nobody's watching. During the Dance Like Nobody's Watching (i.e., facilitating flawlessly and creatively without fear and reservation) session, you'll examine numerous factors that can play a role in accelerating, or have played a role in slowing, your pizzaz in the classroom. Showing up and merely going through the information isn't enough. Being articulate and knowing your subject matter isn't enough. Focusing on the learners' cognitive and psychomotor domains isn't enough. Learners have to be engaged, energized, and inspired and your confidence, charisma, and showmanship play a significant role in making this happen. To help you kick it up a notch, you'll be introduced to the Big Four Dance Card (i.e., four powerful step areas to pizzaz empowerment). You'll also assess yourself against the 15 fear factors that have rendered many predictable, boring, and conservative in front of the room. You'll also get a chance to share and compare your experiences with others, and partner in building a pizzaz-empowering action plan. You'll leave this workshop with a number of tools to use immediately to refresh and energize your content, your learners, and yourself.
