Session #: 334-027
Presenter(s): Roger Chevalier Session Length: 1hr. 15min. Event: 2004 ASTD Annual Convention Date: May 23-27, 2004
SESSION ABSTRACT: While evaluation has always had a place in Instructional Systems Design, few training programs are systematically evaluated to see if participants change their behavior (Level 3) or actually improve their performance (Level 4). ASTD's State of the Industry Report has consistently shown that benchmarked organizations only evaluate training at Levels 3 and 4 less than 10% of the time. This program will present three case studies in which training efficiency and effectiveness were improved using Level 3 and 4 evaluations. Following the presentation of each case study, participants will interact with each other and the presenter in a guided discussion of evaluation principles and practices. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Demonstrate the impact on training of uing Level 3 and Level 4 evaluation. Show how evaluation is part of an overall change strategy. Demonstrate the link between evaluation and moving from training to performance improvement.
