SESSION ABSTRACT: Some of the challenges in developing effective training content are ensuring consistency among courses and with other corporate information, working with compressed development cycles, and on ?leanly? staffed projects. One practical technique for dealing with this is developing reusable content. But effectively doing so requires more than fancy databases and content management systems?it requires a forward-thinking approach to design and attention to practical details, right down to the writing. This interactive session explains how to develop reusable content. An opening activity introduces participants to some of the practical challenges in designing and developing reusable content. The discussion that follows explores a variety of issues, including when reusable content works and when it won?t, the types of content that works best for reuse, up-front design considerations, copyright issues, and writing content so that it can be re-used as is?with little or no editing. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Determine Which Content to Re-Use. Apply principles of Design for Easy Re-Use. Develop awareness of issues related to the Re-use of Copyrighted Material.
