Session #: 336-TU111
Presenter(s): Judith Katz, Frederick Miller Session Length: 1:15 hr Event: 2006 ASTD International Conference Date: May 7-10, 2006
Most organizations find themselves in an incredibly competitive marketplace. After recovering from layoffs, reduced costs, and increased competition, they continue to ask people to do more with less. There are few indications that these conditions will change. The success and survival of many organizations is dependent on the ability to meet changing needs and rapidly transform in response to those changes. How can an organization transform itself to meet the needs of its customers and marketplace while transforming the relationship with its people so that it is positioned for higher operational and financial performance with a more diverse, younger, and independent workforce? In this session, the speakers offer a picture of two organizations in diverse industries (transportation and apparel) that transformed their cultures, relationships, and industries. You will learn nine critical behaviors for successful individual, group, and organizational transformation and what is needed for long-term, successful, and sustainable change. You also will learn how to enhance your ability to create inclusive partnerships and foster safe environments where people share ideas, voice concerns, and take risks; experience the dramatic difference between inclusive and exclusive interactions; discuss the mindsets and behaviors needed to drive and implement successful change; and learn about the road-map model for change. Learning Objectives - Actively develop a diverse cohort of future leaders. Connect inclusion to business goals and outcomes, and as a key principle in organization transformation.
