The CIA, like many organizations today, faces a world of stretched resources-both monetary and human-increasing and conflicting demands from customers and other stakeholders, rapidly changing technology, and a multi-generational workforce that requires the leadership to be flexible, creative, and well-equipped to meet these challenges. In this session, the speakers will share how the CIA identified its leadership-development needs and used leadership development to address these complex challenges. The speakers will share the development processes, the results, and organizational learning techniques. The program provided training to 500 mid-level managers with three to seven years experience to enable them to: 1) look at the organization and their role systemically 2) conduct negotiations that lead to powerful partnerships that accomplish the mission 3) analyze where the system is not working effectively 4) build solutions that are successful and measurable 5) deal successfully with the conflicts that arise on an institutional and personal level. The program provides these highly visible managers with the tools to meet the challenges of the new century.
