ASTD?s 2004 Competency Study Mapping the Future: New Workplace Learning and Performance Competencies will provide a foundation for certification for the learning and performance field. It also raises questions about how to ensure that people are competent in what they do and why certification is worthwhile. The presenters will describe the basics and details of ASTD certification, such as the certification components, program design, eligibility requirements, application process, and test delivery logistics. You will form small groups to discuss specific ways the credential might be marketed -- by ASTD and by the professionals in the field -- to maximize both the value and legitimacy.
